A creative force for nature.
About
At Wild Voices Collective, we believe in the transformative power of art to inspire empathy and action for our wild kin.
Art, in all its forms, is a powerful tool for personal, cultural and environmental transformation. It is a unifying force that can bridge divides, heal wounds, and inspire collective action.
Note from founder, Vanessa Chakour
In my work as an author, visual artist, naturalist, and herbalist, I've spent years dismantling cultural narratives that separate humans from nature. This journey naturally intertwined with my advocacy for wild places, leading me to collaborate with passionate wildlife organizations. Working alongside organizations like the Jaguar Rescue Center, I witnessed firsthand the dedication and urgency of their mission. Yet, amidst the enormity of their task, a crucial gap became apparent. Conservation efforts, often overwhelmed, lacked the bandwidth to fully leverage the power of creative expression.
Meanwhile, within my own community of artists, a yearning to make a difference while expressing the wild's beauty and urgency simmered. This felt like a powerful connection waiting to be made, and why I founded Wild Voices Collective . WVC is a bridge where artists can leverage their talents to amplify the voices of the wild, and wildlife organizations gain a powerful platform for their message. It's a symbiotic relationship – artists find purpose in supporting a cause they deeply care about, while conservation efforts gain the creative edge needed to spark action. It's about recognizing the interconnectedness of all beings, and the power of art to foster empathy and awaken our collective responsibility towards our wild kin.
